Our 5/8" wide hook tape is perfect for stapling to headrails. The width provides just the right coverage to maximize the shade attachment strength while not being so wide that it overlaps the headrail. It will mate perfectly with our 5/8" wide loop tape (sold separately). This is an easy way to attach the shade to headrail. It is not as permanent an attachment as using our tack strip, but it allows the removal of the shade from the headrail for cleaning, etc.

Brackets are required for outside installations and may also be useful for inside installations if the shade can not be screwed directly to the interior top of the window. It is very stable and is very consistent in its manufacturing. Due to its unique characteristics, it provides many of the same benefits of the internal structural components other roman shades require. It makes the need for ribs, etc., obsolete. It is lightweight, yet it provides part of the R-4 insulation that can be achieved with Roman Quilt Insulated Shades.

Romansuede lining is a polyester product that is converted in the United States and includes a "single-pass" suede-like coating that provides effective insulation and keeps out about 40% of the incoming sunlight. It is classified as a room dimming product. It has been selected to provide the appearance, softness, and stability we want in a Roman Quilt Insulated Shade.
The Romansuede lining is white and is 54 inches wide (not counting the selvedge).

Room darkening lining can keep out nearly all the light. We have selected a 3-pass product that is very effective. Room darkening lining provides a great deal of support but it is heavier than our room dimming lining. As a heavier fabric, it hangs very well but not as softly as the room dimming lining. It has a 54" width and is sold in 1 foot (1/3 yard) lengths.

Loop tape is a very versatile product. Ours is 5/8" wide and will mate perfectly with our 5/8" wide hook tape (sold separately). Why 5/8"? 5/8" is a perfect width for attachment to the top of shades to mate with the 5/8" hook tape that can be stapled to the headrail. This is an easy way to attach the shade to headrail. It is not as permanent an attachment as using our tack strip, but it allows the removal of the shade from the headrail for cleaning, etc.

These ingenious new additions to the roman shade arsenal of products allow the replacement of the knots that normally connect each lift cord to their lift or lowest rings with positive connections that are adjustable. They hold very tightly but allow fine tuning of the lift cords without having to re-tie knots. Orbs can be great time savers and can make perfect adjustments simple. Order one per lift cord.
Hint: To assure orbs do not "slide" off cord when installed, you may opt to tie a knot at the bottom of each cord (below the bottom ring) or loop the cord that is installed through the orb around and through the orb again. This latter method allows readjustment of the orb location if desired.

Outside mount bracket sets include brackets as well as hardware (bolt, washer, and wing-nut) needed to attach the brackets to the headrail. Please note that 2" screws that attach the brackets to the window casing or wall are sold separately. This arrangement is the most versatile and easiest set-up we've found for installing outside mount shades. We include them with our custom shades and outside mount customized shade kits. The bracket sets are sold individually. At least two bracket sets are required per shade while more may be in order for wider shades. Generally the brackets will be placed no greater than 36" apart.

While our 1.4mm Lift Cord is the cord that is used throughout the fabrication of the Roman Quilt Insulated Shades, an important safety design component involves the connection of the multiple 1.4mm lift cords to a single 1.8mm pull cord - which is the cord the user actually operates. The connection is made through our "Cord Condenser" where several cords become one. This eliminates the looped multiple cords and the possibility of additional risk to children. The single cord is all that normally hangs down from the shade when it is in it's lowered position. When the shade is up, the cord is wound around the cord cleat making it even more difficult for a young child to access the cords.

Unlike others you will see elsewhere, these rings are manufactured for us by a company that takes extra measures to be sure that each ring is exceptionally, clear, free of imperfections, and includes UV protection for long life. Clear rings can blend with any color fabric or cord. They are approximately 5/8" outside diameter.

Safety is critical. The lift cords of older roman shades have caused a risk of injuries and even death, especially for younger children. Roman shades are best kept out of the reach of children. However, Roman Quilt Insulated Shades can be safe. The placement of cords and ring spacing is important in providing for safety. There can still be a risk if the cords are easily accessible. Our Cord Shroud (safety looped cord) is sewn to the back of the shade at the same time the rings are attached. The 1.4 mm (or 1.8 mm if you prefer) lift cords are threaded through the loops. The result - cords are held securely and away from small fingers. We consider this component a must-use product when fabricating any shade with lift cords. Shown is the looped cord product and an example of 1.4mm cord threaded through the looped safety shroud.

Our 2" hexagonal screws have a slotted head but using a hex head driver makes it much easier and much less likely to have a screwdriver slip loose. They are long enough to screw through our headrail and into molding or through plaster into wood beneath.

While only 3/4 inch long, these screws are giants when it comes to attaching the pulleys to the Roman Quilt Headrail. Like their 2 inch bigger cousins, these screws have a hexagonal head and work also with a phillips head screwdriver.

We supply tack strip with our Roman Quilt Insulating Shade Kits as the "professional" and permanent way to attach the shade to the headrail. This is an upholstering trick that assures a crisp, straight appearance that can not be achieved as effectively with hook and loop tape. The tack strip is 1/2 inch wide and is a cardboard product. Of the many techniques we've experimented with, this is the best and it also the least cost. You only need a stapler.

We selected steel as the proper product for the weight bar for the Roman Quilt Insulating Shade. It has the proper weight to assure that your shade hangs as straight as you intended and lasts forever. It is an important part of the safety system as well.
