Home > Installation Options and How to Measure > Inside/Outside Mount
The inside/outside mount is probably the least common but is used due to ease of installation and coverage of the entire window. It generally runs from the inner top of the window to the sill or other obstruction at the bottom.  Unlike the inside mount option, the width of the shade is the width to the outside edge of window molding. This allows flexible magnet strips (option) to be installed on the edge of the molding to mate with magnet sections that are fabricated within the edges of the shade.   The top of the treatment is the top of the headrail. The headrail fits within the window similarly to the inside mount. You will need to check to be sure that the headrail can fit within the window at the headrail's 1 1/2" depth plus another 1/4" for the shade fabric (1 3/4" total). Alternatively, the headrail can be turned on its edge so that it needs only 3/4 inch of depth (1" with the shade fabric included). We need to know if this is the case since the mounting holes and pulleys are installed differently than normal.

Width: To measure the width of the shade, use an accurate tape measure and measure the width in each of three locations as shown above. The width is to the outer edge of the window frame or molding.   The finished width measure supplied will be the widest of the the three measurements. We will make no fabrication deductions.  You will need to supply us this information as a "Special Instruction" note.

Length: To measure the length, take three measurements as shown above. The finished length will be the longest of the three measurements.

Headrail Width:  The headrail measurement will be the inside width at the top of the window. We will make the necessary deductions.  You will need to supply us this information as a "Special Instruction" note.
